This week at Gainsborough…
Spring 2
Comic Relief Fundraising
This week we dressed in red and donated £1, we also held a cake sale after school, selling delicious school cake for £1 a slice. We raised over £200 for Comic Relief this week! Coming together as a community to raise money for those less fortunate than ourselves has modeled to our children how to show kindness, compassion and understand inequalities in the world around us. Small acts of kindness, such as donating £1 for Comic Relief, mean children will grow up knowing how good it feels to give. Joining in country wide fund raisers and awareness days does not distract from learning, or take adults away from the classroom, it is as important as high quality learning in books. We believe that kindness is the single most important thing we can teach our children.

Parent’s Evening at Gainsborough
Thank you to all of the families who attended our parent’s evening sessions this week. We enjoyed sharing your child’s learning, showcasing our science fair boards and hearing your views on your child’s learning.
If you have completed a questionnaire at home please return it this week. We will also continue to ask families, who could not attend parent’s evening, to complete the questionnaire. It is really important that we consult you on how effective you think the school is in teaching your child, supporting their well being and meeting your needs as parents. This informs the next stage of our planning in our school development plan. Thank you for taking the time to complete the survey!
Reader of the Week
Each week we will award one child from Years 1-6 with a new book, as the Reader of the Week. The award is for commitment, reading progress, engagement or sharing their love for reading. Please support your child with reading at home! After all, reading is to the mind what exercise is to the body.
