Improving Attendance at Gainsborough
This week you will receive further guidance on booking holidays in term time. Families who have had holidays during term time will be invited in to meet with school staff and discuss their child’s attendance. We appreciate all family trips are valuable and sometimes family events cannot be missed. However we must remind all families that holidays during term time are not permitted and will not be authorised. We thank you for your support in improving attendance at Gainsborough. This week we celebrated our best attendance this year with 99% of pupils in school each day this week.
World Book Day and School Council Book Sale
Our school council have been encouraging us to read for pleasure. They held a book sale after school on World Book Day. We sold over 80 books. Children are invited to come and buy the remaining books on Monday 10th March before and after school from the school office. Thank you for your support on World Book Day and for your support with the book sale.
Science Week and International Women’s Day
This week we will complete some science experiments in classes and record these to create a school science fair! We will visit the fair over the course of week 4 in our classes and view each year groups’ science experiment. Families will be able to view these during parents evening in the middle hall. We will also look at an influential women scientist, in each year group, and reflect on the unsung female scientists throughout history who have made an incredible contribution to the world of science. Watch this space!
