Last week at Gainsborough…
Volunteers still needed!
We are looking for volunteers to support our circular food economy. We would like families to support us for one hour a week on a Friday to help maintain our school beds, growing project, composting and planting. No experience is necessary. Volunteers would work with our circular food economy lead, Ana, to learn how to look after our environment. Please email admin@gainsborough.hackney.sch.uk if you have any time to you could spare to support us.
Punctuality Reminder
Please be reminded that the school gates open at 8.45am. Children are expected to be at Gainsborough at 8.45am. Children who are on time for school are able to settle into routines and access all areas of learning effectively. When children are late to school they can feel unsure and unsettled as they have missed crucial parts of the school routine. Being on time means you have time to work through our spelling and handwriting programme, it means you have time to check through the visual timetable and ask questions about the day. Children who are on time generally access learning better and have a more successful experience of school. If you are struggling with your morning routine or have a complicated morning school run, please speak with a member of senior staff on the school gates.
Reader of the Week
Each week we will award one child from Years 1-6 with a new book, as the Reader of the Week. The award is for commitment, reading progress, engagement or sharing their love for reading. Please support your child with reading at home! After all, reading is to the mind what exercise is to the body.
