Christmas Jumper Day at Gainsborough
The children made their own jumpers, wore school made jumpers and shared their own favourite Christmas jumpers this week. The children enjoyed this and it has kick started our Christmas festivities.
Reader of the Week
Each week we will award one child from Years 1-6 with a new book, as the Reader of the Week. The award is for commitment, reading progress, engagement or sharing their love for reading. Please support your child with reading at home! After all, reading is to the mind what exercise is to the body.

Most Improved Writer of the Week
Each week we will award one child from Years 1-6 as most improved writer of the week. The award is for those who have shown a significant improvement in handwriting or writing throughout the week.

Reception Doves
Jenson has been awarded a Gainsborough Gold Award this week for always being kind, following instructions and being an excellent role model. Well done Jenson!
Year 1 Wrens
Lyra was awarded a Gainsborough Gold Award this week. She has used the class plans in writing and the vocabulary given to produce some fantastic writing. Well done Lyra!
Year 2- Owls
Asya was awarded a Gainsborough Gold Award for writing this week. She has written a great appeal letter. Well done Asya!
Year 3 – Hummingbirds
Finley was awarded a Gainsborough Gold Award this week. He has been very positive and contributed well to lessons that are not his favourite. Well done Finley.
Year 4- Herons
Seamus was nominated for a Gainsborough Gold this week. He has worked really hard on a descriptive narrative this week. Well done Seamus!
Year 5 – Skylarks
Malik was nominated for a Gainsborough Gold this week for showing great manners and kindness on our Panto trip this week. Well done Malik.
Year 6 – Magpies
Caedrian has been awarded the Gainsborough Gold Award this week. He has made a huge effort to improve his joined writing and now his writing is a pleasure to read. He has also scored incredibly well in his reading assessment. Well done Caedrian, you should be very proud!

Cards, wrapping paper and decorations wanted…
2 Year Old Ducklings, Nursery Swans and Geese and Reception will be completing activities related to winter and Christmas this week. We would welcome any donations of decorations, cards, wrapping paper or Santa related paraphernalia! Thank you those who have donated cards, ribbon and wrapping paper already. We are also looking for sets of fairy lights if families have any they no longer need.
Parents in Class, Monday 16th December from 2.45pm
We are holding a parents in class event on Monday 16th December at 2.45-3.20pm. This event welcomes families into the classes of years 1 -6 to take part in some learning with the children in their classes. Families get a chance to complete an activity with the children and see what life is like in their classroom. These are not model lessons, or taught sessions, they are often a chance for children to complete something with their parents that they have been successful in already and a chance to do these things together. This parents in class will be seasonal decoration making!
FRoG’s Annual Christmas Party and Santa’s Grotto, Monday 16th December
After parents in class we will have our Annual FRoG’s Christmas party. This will be a traditional party with party games, activities, our community kitchen will be open for cooking activities and a younger children’s area! We will have a Santa’s Grotto and a wish list letter writing station. We understand this time of year can be financially challenging, we hope to give the children a great experience with a Santa visit and a party for as little as possible. Tickets will be sold for £1 and all events and activities, food and drink are 1 ticket per item, with the Santa’s Grotto being 2 tickets. The party will take place from 3.30-5.30pm. All families are welcome to come and celebrate the end of term with us.
Years 3, 4, 5, 6 Winter Concert
We are holding our annual winter concert in which our older children will be singing a range of Christmas and seasonal songs. This is an event not to be missed. Please join us in the top hall on Wednesday 18th December at 2.30pm.
The Nativity at St Mary of Eton
We will making our annual trip to St Mary of Eton for our Nativity. Get ready for a tear jerking, goose bump making, delight of a nativity this week. Please meet at St Mary of Eton at 10am on Thursday 19th December, where Nursery, Reception, Years 1 and 2 will perform. If you would prefer for your child not to take part in the nativity please let your child’s class teacher know. There will be some children staying at school. We can’t wait to perform for you!
End of Term – Thursday 19th December, 2pm
At the end of each term we finish school at 2pm. This is to enable a full tidy up and prep for teachers and staff ready for the new term. Please ensure your child is collected on time. The Preschool will remain open until 6pm.
