Last week at Gainsborough…
Odd Socks at Gainsborough
We wore odd socks this week to represent the differences between one and other. The children have been considering ways in which we treat one and other when we are different to each other. We have learnt that differences in how we look, what we believe, our cultures and our interests are what makes us special and we need to accept one and others differences and stand up for our right to be different!
Run Gainsborough Run
We had a wonderful time at the Run Kids Run event at the London Community Track. The school managed to achieve the target of over 30% of the school coming to the event. We were blown away by the support we received and super impressed with our runners. The children have voted for 2 things to fund raise for this year: firstly a sensory room, and secondly some mew and improved outdoor mobile play equipment. We look forward to fundraising with you!
Year 2 V and A trip
Year 2 have been looking at Clothes through history and took part in a wonderful workshop at the V and A. The children really enjoyed dressing up as Kings and Queens and had a wonderful time. Thank you to all of the families who went along.

Coming up at Gainsborough…
Zero Waste Hub, Saturday 23rd November
Hackney Council are running a Zero waste up at Gainsborough. From 11-3pm you can donate clothes, toys and books and in return pick up items for yourself. They also offer bike repairs, electrical appliance repairs and clothes repairs- all completely free. Gainsborough staff will be on site hosting an open day session at the Children’s Centre and selling hot chocolate, home made baked goods and plants. Come along if you can!
Individual and Sibling Photographs
One Monday and Tuesday we have Boom photography in school to take individual and sibling pictures. On Monday children from the Preschool (Hatchlings and Ducklings) and the Early Years (Nursery Swans and Geese and Reception Doves) will all have their individual and sibling pictures taken. On Tuesday children from Years 1 -6 will have their individual pictures taken and any sibling pictures from Years 1 -6 will also be taken. If your child had sibling pictures on Monday then they won’t have them again on Tuesday. The photograph codes will then be sent to families for you to purchase photographs in time for Christmas. All sales go through Boom however you can then collect the pictures from school.
No Pens Day!
On Tuesday we are downing our pens! We have an action packed day of games, singing and cooking to explore different ways in which we learn.
Annual General Meeting for FRo’G’s
We are hoping to expand our support network through our school PTA, the FRoG’s (Friends of Gainsborough). We understand lots of people have jobs, younger children and other commitments but we would like some more parent support to plan events and carry them out. We are confirming our AGM meeting date this week and we hope to encourage some of you to join over the coming week.
