We take Online Safety very seriously and are constantly looking for ways to raise awareness in a bid to keep all of our children safe online.

Across our school, children Our reading scheme is called SfA (Success for All). The aim of SfA is to create fluent and confident readers who are able to clarify and question a range of texts.

We aim to create a writing curriculum which enables children to express their creativity and provides them with the skills necessary to become independent writers, with strong authorial voices. We provide our writers with the tools to communicate and share their ideas with those around them and to do so by understanding the impact of powerful vocabulary and authorial choices. We believe that carefully selected literature is vital to the development of young writers and we therefore use a variety of different text types and strong teacher and peer models to help shape our own writing.

Gainsborough Primary School is committed to developing children’s maths skills, our daily maths lessons lay the foundations for this critical life skill.

Spanish learning is based on practical communication and instilling a passion for language learning. Learning a new language is key to becoming part of the global community and we ensure that our pupils have a solid foundation for this journey.

We believe every child is a musician. We help children develop their musicianship through high quality musical experiences both in and outside school.

Each half term children lead a campaign in their classes relating to one of the below keeps and their topic.

Physical Education is taught across the school by specialist coaches from BADU Sports. Using sports coaches means that our children are able to increase their knowledge regarding the rules of sports and understand the importance of team work and how fitness affects the body. We place a huge importance on children finding enjoyment in sports and that everyone displays high levels of sportsmanship when faced with challenges.

Through the teaching of Religious Education, we hope all our children are educated to develop spiritually, emotionally, educationally and morally.  This will enable them to understand themselves and others, and to cope with the opportunities, challenges and responsibilities of living in such a diverse world. 

At Gainsborough, we want all children to develop a deep understanding of scientific concepts through a curriculum where children can explore and question the world around them.
