Last week at Gainsborough…
We are a Nut Free School!
Please be reminded we are a nut free school. We have some children who have allergies to nuts in our community. This means all of us need to be vigilant in protecting them form any exposure to nuts. We ask that families ensure they do not send children to school with snack in packed lunches, or for after school clubs, with nuts in. This includes, but is not exclusive to: chocolate spread, breakfast bars including nuts, snickers bars, boxes of chocolates with nuts in, peanut butter. Thank you for your support.
Volunteers needed!
We are looking for volunteers to support our circular food economy. We would like families to support us for one hour a week on a Friday to help maintain our school beds, growing project, composting and planting. No experience is necessary. Volunteers would work with our circular food economy lead, Ana, to learn how to look after our environment. Please email admin@gainsborough.hackney.sch.uk if you have any time to you could spare to support us.
Leyton Orient in the Community
We are working with Leyton Orient in Year 5 this term. Each week coaches from the Leyton Orient will work with Year 5 pupils which consists of Healthy Living Workshops in a classroom for 6 weeks and Physical activity lessons for 6 weeks. This will take place every Friday during their PE lessons.
Water Bottle Reminders Reminders
Please be reminded children that all children are given a water bottle at Gainsborough Primary school. If you send your child with their water bottle, they to use on their journey to and from school, they will be asked not to keep it in their bags during the school day, please do not send spray bottles or heavy metal bottles. Sending in bottles from home gives staff another thing to have to manage when pupils do try and use them in lessons or at lunchtime, we appreciate your support in encouraging your child to use the school issued water bottles.
Reader of the Week
Each week we will award one child from Years 1-6 with a new book, as the Reader of the Week. The award is for commitment, reading progress, engagement or sharing their love for reading. Please support your child with reading at home! After all, reading is to the mind what exercise is to the body.
