Last week at Gainsborough…
Sports Day Years 1 -6
Thank you to our children, staff and families for a wonderful sports day at the London Marathon Community track. We had a wonderful day, with some excellent behaviour and attitudes and some incredible sporting abilities on display. Thank you to our year 6 pupils to lead each event, the children were well looked after by you and demonstrated the events like experts. Well done to Ms Jethwa, Coach Terry and Coach Archie for leading us through a great day.
Year 6 Play – School Daze
Families from year 6 were treated to a fantastic performance by Doves class this week. The children sang and acted exceptionally well. Well done Year 6! Many families commented on the your stage presence, the quality of your stage direction and your use of your voices to perform and to sing.
Nursery Graduation
Nursery Swans and Geese treated us to song and received a certificate for completing nursery. We wish those to families and children who are moving on to new settings lots of luck, and we cannot wait to see what reception brings this set of children! This cohort will be called Reception Doves, as the exiting Doves leave Gainsborough.
Year 6 Doves Leavers
Year 6 Doves, you have really shone this year. From SAT’s results, to incredible assemblies, to perfect behaviour and attitudes you are a class to be truly proud off. We send you off onto your next stage of your education with a range of incredible skills, talents and a great approach to learning. You have the power to make good choices and the determination to be the best versions of yourselves. We cannot wait to see you over the coming years to see how you develop and what you achieve. The below poem is a poem we read to year 6 leavers every year:
Let No One Steal Your Dreams
Let no-one steal your dreams
Let no-one tear apart
That burning of ambition
That fires the drive inside your heart.
Let no-one steal your dreams
Let no-one tell you that you can’t
Let no-one hold you back
Let no-one tell you that you won’t.
Set your sights and keep them fixed
Set your sights on high
Let no-one steal your dreams
Your only limit is the sky.
Let no-one steal your dreams
Follow your heart
Follow your soul
For only when you follow them
Will you feel truly whole.
Set your sights and keep them fixed
Set your sights on high
Let no-one steal your dreams
Your only limit is the sky.

School Front Office
We are very excited that our new school front office refurbishment is underway. We have been using our previous office space for 20 years and it was due an upgrade in security, safety and in need of modernisation. We will have a more open, more family friendly office space for you to enjoy.
School and Community Kitchen Refurbishment
As if a fancy new office wasn’t good enough we are also in the process of re-configuring our school kitchen into a very exciting new space. The kitchen, the size of 2 classrooms, is being modernised with the removal of gas appliances and the installation of new, modern cooking equipment to make cooking easier, safer and more efficient. The kitchen will be split into 2 rooms, the second being a community kitchen. This space will be used for DT lessons for the children, cooking workshops and clubs, family cooking sessions and can be used for community rental. This will enable us to live our our ‘seed to plate’ vision with children at Gainsborough being able to plant, harvest and cook their own meals here on site! We will be running family cooking sessions when we return to school and holding a grand opening with some very special guests in the Autumn term.
