This week at Gainsborough…
Odd Socks – We wore odd socks to share our support for difference in our school community. We designed our own odd socks looking at the things that make us all unique. we are committed to ensuring bullying does not happen at Gainsborough. Year 4 performed a class assembly on Friday and their message was very clear- SAY NO TO BULLYING. If your child has concerns about their peers, or have disclosed they feel bullied at school, please come and talk to staff at school.
Reader of the Week
Each week we will award one child from Years 1-6 with a new book, as the Reader of the Week. The award is for commitment, reading progress, engagement or sharing their love for reading. Please support your child with reading at home! After all, reading is to the mind what exercise is to the body.

Keep Giving
Each half term we focus on a different Gainsborough Keep: kind, connected, safe, healthy, green or giving. This half term we have introduced the idea of giving your time to causes and issues.
Children in Need
Children in Need was on Friday 17th November. We wore spots and thought about those less fortunate than ourselves. All the money donated will go to Children in Need. We asked children to think about what they would spend £1 million on if they had it to give away. This is also the theme of their homework this week, inspired by Martin Luther King Jr’s ‘I have a dream speech.’
Run Gainsborough Run
We would like to say a huge thank you to Run Schools run who have awarded us £5K for out attendance at the Run on the 5th November at the London Community Track. We doubled our attendance at the event from the previous year, well done Gainsborough Community! We will use the money to develop our outdoor classroom which is being built in the Spring term. We are working with the charity Trees for Cities to develop the playground next to the car park. It will be transformed into a space for class learning, growing and play. We are really excited to see what this space brings us and how it supports our mission to be more sustainable, outdoor learning and our well being.
Keeping Connected in our Community…
Parent’s Information Session Year 6 – Wednesday 29th November
We are inviting parents from Year 6 to an information evening to discuss 2 important events happening in the Summer term for our Year 6 children. Please come to an information session to see the expectations being set for year 6 children in their learning as they prepare for SAT’s, how you can support them at home to develop good home learning habits and support their well being. We will also look at the importance of school journey, the preparation and resources children need, payments plans and options and how the school would like you to support the children through this process. It is an expectation that all Year 6 parents come to this meeting.

At Gainsborough Next Week…
Sibling and Individual Photographs
We are taking the children’s pictures this week so you have them in time for Christmas. We are using a different photographer this year. They have requested longer with reach family, and individual, to get a range of pictures. On Monday 20th November they will take all of the sibling pictures, if you have more than one child attending Gainsborough, from Hatchlings to Year 6, the children will have their picture taken together. On Tuesday 21st all individual pictures of all children will be taken on their own. That means if your child has siblings they need to be picture ready on both Monday and Tuesday!
